Storage Units Solve Both Long Term and Short Term Storage Problems

This is the first summer that you have not had to be part of the group that rents self storage units. When your daughter announced that she had been selected to be the coordinator by the college, she also informed you that she will be staying on campus for the whole summer. The good news is that you would not need to contribute to the rental fees of the self storage units that your daughter has shared with her friends in the past. The bad news is that this may seem like the longest summer ever.

In spite of your sadness, your husband has pointed out that the two of you can still go down and visit your oldest daughter and the end of this year and the beginning of next year. You will not, however, have to go through the struggle of moving things out of her dorm and into storage for three months, only to do the same thing again at the end of the summer. Even better, your husband points out, this summer your daughter only has to move floors so she is going to take care of moving herself.
For her part, your daughter has promised that she will try to come home for at least one weekend and that she will be able to spend time decluttering her space so that the final move out after her senior year will be a lot easier. In the past, because she always had plenty of personal storage space in the rental space she did not really ever take the time to do this.

Many Americans Tend to Have Lots of Things That They Simply Cannot Part With

From car storage to boat storage to simply having a place to store furniture for future use, the self storage industry in America is invaluable. In a time when so many people have so much more than they can really use on a daily basis it is not surprising that the self storage industry is booming. As an indicator of how important this industry is it is interesting to know that the average household in the U.S. contains 300,000 things.

In addition to holding the items that we do not have room for in our homes, these self storage units are often used for short term periods when people are in the process of selling a home and moving. In fact, many realtors suggest the importance of decluttering your home before you put it on the market. A storage unit allows a seller to keep the things that they have, but remove them from the home so that that house shows better.

Another reason that more and more families are renting storage units is that our garages and basements are full. With 25% of the households with a two-car garage not having room to park a car inside it a storage unit is a perfect solution, especially during the coldest months of the year. The fact that 32% of homes only have room for one car in side means that a storage unit is sometimes the only answer to making sure that more parking space can be available.

Whether you are a college student just looking for storage for the summer or you are a home owner trying to make more space in the garage during the winter, self storage units are sometimes the best solution.
